Pest And Rodent Control: Signs You Require A Professional Inspection

by Lance Burke

It can be a headache and hassle to deal with pests inside your home, particularly if you have a major infestation. However, in some cases, you may not realize that you have a pest problem, as it isn't always obvious. When the signs of infestation aren't clear, here are a few things that you need to be on the lookout for so you know when to contact a professional for an inspection.

Gnawed Wood or Shredded Paper

One of the most obvious signs that you may have a problem with pests is when you notice gnawed wood or shredded paper around the home. Certain animals like mice, rats, and squirrels like to use wood and paper to create their nests beneath the floorboards and inside the walls. Therefore, if you see these signs, get in touch with a rodent control expert immediately.

Noises at Night

When you are in bed at night and hear noises, you may be scared out of your mind. Since most insects and rodents tend to be nocturnal creatures, it makes sense that they would be scurrying around your home at night, making noise. Take note of where you are hearing the noises from. If they're coming from the kitchen and the noises sound like rustling, scraping, or scratching, there is a good chance that it is a rodent looking for some food.

Evidence of Bugs

With certain types of insects, it may be far more difficult to determine if you require removal and inspection services. Luckily, there are some signs that you can watch for. For instance, if you look at the windowsills and see wings, it is often an indication that you have a termite infestation on your hands. If you find black droppings that are similar in appearance to mice droppings but smaller, roaches may have made their way into your home.

Mud Tubules

Termites tend to enter the home by burrowing through the ground in tunnels. So, head outside and look around the exterior of your home. If you notice small trails that lead to your home, use something to break them open. An active mud tubule will be fresh and it will have live termites in it. You will need to contact a pest control service immediately.

If you have run into any of the aforementioned issues, you will need to contact a pest and rodent control company immediately for an inspection, and potentially, treatment.
