Identify the Problem

The first step in dealing with a wasp infestation is identifying the type of wasp you're dealing with. Common types include yellow jackets, hornets, and paper wasps. Each species has distinct behaviors and nesting habits, which will determine the best course of action.

Locate the Nest

Once you've identified the wasp species, locate their nest. Wasps can build their nests in various places such as trees, under eaves, or in the ground. Be cautious when approaching the nest; disturbing it can provoke the wasps into protective mode, leading to multiple stings.

Another method is using a wasp trap. These traps use sweet-smelling bait to attract wasps. Once inside, the wasps cannot escape and eventually die. While this won't eliminate a large infestation, it can help control the wasp population.

You can also use decoy wasp nests; wasps are territorial and will avoid setting up a nest near another one.
